ASA Spotlight: Della Wark

ASA SPOTLIGHT

Join us each month as we interview and feature members of the ASA Community! This month, we’re shining the spotlight on an Athlete in our new PG County Community – Della Wark!

1. Tell us more about yourself. What would you like readers to know?

Della is an 8 year old girl who lives at home with her parents and 2 hairless cats! She enjoys swimming, playing with dolls and the movies Home Alone & Frozen. Della also likes to cover her face most of the time when we try to get a picture.

2. What drew you to ASA? When did you start?

Della’s school has Skate Nights where the students can come skate, ride scooters, socialize. On those nights I would put my roller blades on and push Della around the rink. She loved going fast and putting her hands in the air. When I heard about ASA I thought it would be perfect! Della started mid March 2024.

3. What do you love most about ASA?

Della loves the people. I’m so grateful for the wingmen and captains and all the staff who put forth effort and time to make something special for others to enjoy.

4. Tell us more about the people you've connected with through ASA.

We have met many other parents who share their stories and who are also a wealth of information and resources. We’ve met other athletes who inspire us to push forward. We’ve also met so many wingmen in different counties who are totally up for the challenge of running races.

5. What is your favorite part of a group run?

Our favorite part is being able to chat with all the Wingmen. They always have stories to tell me when they get back!

6. What is your favorite part of race day?

Our favorite part of race day is when the race starts! Watching everyone leave the start line excited to get moving always makes us smile.

7. What is your best ASA story to date?

My favorite story so far is when Della was scheduled to run the Azalea Classic 5k. It was raining that day but somehow the topic of running the 1 mile and 1K came up (other events they were holding) and thus Della ended the day with three medals!
